Consistent Quality
Our timber brokers regularly source only high quality timber stock from selected New Zealand sawmills. We utilise one the best local processing and treatment plants to produce our finished fascia board. The result is a solid; stable, 25mm thick fascia board that when combined with the benefits of the concealed bracket system is resistant to warping and bowing unlike some other, thinner, traditionally fixed fascia board.
Fascia and Barge Board Fixing
The concealed, galvanised or grade 316 stainless steel fascia brackets are fixed to the side of the rafters. Brackets are first fixed to the opposite ends of the run of fascia and subsequent brackets are then fitted using a string line to align them correctly. This method of fixing can eliminate the need for trimming the end of the rafters. The fascia is then simply mounted by locating the base tab of the fascia bracket into the invert on the bottom edge of the fascia board locking the fascia board in place. The fascia board is then fastened to the fascia bracket with stainless steel screws and clouts. Fascia barge boards at gable ends are fixed in a similar manner using gable brackets. All fascia and gable brackets must be fixed to the rafters and fascia board with grade 316 stainless steel screws and clouts.
Selecting the Paint Finish for your Fasica Board
New Zealand has one of the highest UV levels in the world. Over a period of time products such as steel, concrete or timber when painted with the best exterior paints can, when exposed to the elements exhibit signs of fading or dulling. In extreme cases this may take just a few years. The darker the paint finishes the more heat they attract, the more likely the fading or dulling is noticed. Darker paint finishes can cause small surface cracks to open on the timber surface. This obviously leads to more maintenance. We have twenty-one standard colours in our range or you can select your own colour. We recommend that when selecting the colour for your fascia board that the lighter colours will usually give greater longevity and less maintenance.
Fascia Care and Maintenance
Only a quality, recognised brand of paint is used on all our timber fascia. To maintain the prepainted surface we recommended regular washing with a soft brush and warm soapy water and then light hose down with fresh water to remove any soap residue. This maintenance should be undertaken at least 2-3 times a year, monthly if you live in a salt spray environment. This will improve the longevity of the prepainted surface. Failure to carry out regular maintenance may invalidate any warranties offered or implied. Water blasting of the pre painted surface should not be carried out under any circumstances.
